Museum of Discovery and Science Presents
The Mercedes-Benz of Fort Lauderdale
Dragon Skies of China Gala
on October 8, 2005

The Museum of Discovery and Science is on track to unveil one of the most successful black tie galas to date—The Mercedes-Benz of Fort Lauderdale Dragon Skies of China Gala—hosted by S.P.A.R.K., October 8, 2005.

More than 700 guests will revel in an elegant evening of fine dining, live music and dancing, with auctions featuring luxurious trips to exciting destinations, special vacation home packages, exquisite jewelry, private dinner parties and excursions on private jets. Guests will also experience an exclusive tour of the new exhibit, Dragon Skies: Astronomy of Imperial China, sponsored by the Rand Eye Institute.

The evening will commence at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception, silent auction and open bars. The dinner and live auction will follow at 8 p.m. Corporate tables, sponsorships and tickets are available by calling 954-712-1162. The Mercedes-Benz of Fort Lauderdale Dragon Skies of China Gala co-benefits the Museum of Discovery and Science and the Sun-Sentinel Children’s Fund, a fund of the McCormick Tribune Foundation.

The presenting sponsor is Mercedes-Benz of Ft. Lauderdale. The sponsor of the cocktail reception is Wachovia; Southern Wine & Spirits is the exclusive beverage sponsor. Additional significant event underwriters include: City Furniture, Huizenga Holdings, Inc., Lago Mar, Q-Med Corporation, Robert Lloyd Corkin Foundation, Stiles Corporation and Show Management.

The Gala is hosted every year by S.P.A.R.K., the Museum’s fundraising auxiliary. Co-chairs of the event are Manuel and Marlene Aguero, Jon and Katy Ferrando, Robert and Lorrie Roschman, Chip Snyder and Debbie Banks-Snyder. Along with their committee members, the co-chairs are volunteering many hours to help create this successful event.

The mission of the Museum of Discovery and Science is to provide experiential pathways to lifelong learning in science for children and adults through exhibits, programs, and films. Founded in 1976 as The Discovery Center, the nonprofit facility serves approximately 400,000 visitors each year. Major operational support for the Museum is provided through generous support by Leadership Guild members including: American Express, City Furniture, JM Family Enterprises, Inc., Sun-Sentinel and Wachovia.
