GET CAUGHT IN THE IMAX® WEB SPIDER-MAN™ 3: The IMAX Experience® opens at the Museum of Discovery and Science Blockbuster IMAX® Theater on Friday, May 4


Fort Lauderdale, April 25, 2007 – Audiences will feel totally immersed in a web of excitement as Spider-Man™ 3: The IMAX Experience® opens at the Blockbuster IMAX® Theater on Friday, May 4. Digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (digital re-mastering) technology, Spider-Man™ 3: The IMAX Experience® will debut concurrently with the nationwide 35mm release from Columbia Pictures. Spider-Man™ 3: The IMAX Experience® is locally sponsored by Maroone an AutoNation company.

IMAX® moviegoers will experience the third installment of the continuing adventures of Peter Parker in a whole new way. IMAX® theatres are specifically designed to present stunning images of exceptional quality and clarity. These images fill a viewer's peripheral vision, and, together with IMAX's® proprietary digital surround sound system and unique theatre designs, create The IMAX Experience®. Audiences will feel as if they are “n the movie, virtually transported to thrilling new heights as Spider-Man takes on two of his most feared nemeses yet, Sandman and Venom.

In Spider-Man™ 3, based on the legendary Marvel Comics series, Peter Parker has finally managed to strike a balance between his devotion to M.J. and his duties as a superhero. But there is a storm brewing on the horizon. When his Spider-Man suit suddenly changes, turning jet-black and enhancing his powers, it transforms Peter as well. Under the influence of the suit, Peter becomes prideful and overconfident and he begins to neglect the ones he cares about the most. As two of the most-feared villains yet, Sandman and Venom, gather unparalleled power and a thirst for retribution, Peter's greatest battle is the one within himself. Spider-Man will need to rediscover the compassion that makes him who he is: a hero.

Columbia Pictures Presents A Marvel Studios/Laura Ziskin Production Spider-Man™ 3 starring Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Thomas Haden Church, Topher Grace, Bryce Dallas Howard, James Cromwell, Rosemary Harris, and J.K. Simmons. The film is directed by Sam Raimi. The screenplay is by Sam Raimi & Ivan Raimi and Alvin Sargent and the screen story by Sam Raimi & Ivan Raimi; based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The producers are Laura Ziskin, Avi Arad, and Grant Curtis. The executive producers are Stan Lee, Kevin Feige, and Joseph M. Caracciolo.

Columbia Pictures releases Spider-Man™ 3 in traditional and select IMAX® theatres worldwide beginning May 4. Spider-Man™ 3 has been rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America for sequences of intense action violence.

    People all across the globe know that spider webs are incredibly strong and beautiful. Learn how to preserve abandoned spider webs you may find in your own yard. Find out exactly how strong these arachnid artistic creations can be and take home your own sparkly web creation.
  • Buggin' Out! May 5 & 6, 2007 at 2:30 p.m.
    The most successful animals on the planet are the arthropods. They have conquered land, sea and air, and make up over three-fourths of all currently known living and fossil organisms. Meet some of the Museum's resident bugs and study ancient arthropod fossils.
  • Jumping Spiders May 5 & 6, 2007 at 3:30 p.m.
    Jumping spiders capture their prey by jumping on it from several inches away, and they may jump from twig to twig or leaf to leaf. They can jump thirty times their body length. If you could jump like a jumping spider – you would be able to jump over 150 feet. You may not be able to jump quite that far, but during this long jump activity see just how much spider you have in you.
  • Tate's Comics and Games May 5, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
    During the almost four decades since Spider-Man first appeared in 1962, he has been featured in a couple thousand comic books, three animated television series, several novels and now in his third full-length feature film. After seeing Spidey in IMAX, visit with our friends at Tate's Comics and Games for the true scoop on the history of Spider-Man comics.
  • Miami-Dade Anti-Venom Unit May 5, 2007 from Noon – 4:00 p.m.
