Nano-scale particles are now being used in the production of sunblocks to increase their transparency. Learn how nanotechnology is keeping you safe at the beach!
Environmental Clean Up
With fresh clean groundwater being one of our most valuable natural resources, we cannot afford to have it become polluted. During this demonstration you will understand how nano-iron enables us to clean this water from deep below our feet. Try to use your own nano-iron to clean up an environmental mess.

Frogs: a chorus of colors and Wild Ocean 3D

Shark Feeding Frenzy
1:00 p.m.
Join the Museum’s Life Sciences staff and watch them create a “feeding frenzy” in the shark tank. Just like in the IMAX movie Wild Ocean 3D watch the sharks devour their food in just a few minutes. Learn about how sharks use their senses to locate prey quickly and efficiently.
Jumping Frog Origami
1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
2008 is known s the year of the frog on the Chinese calendar, and is supposed to be a year of good luck and fortune. Practice the ancient Japanese art of origami and create your very own jumping frog. Compete your frog against others in a jumping contest to see which frog has the farthest leap.

There is a lot you can learn about frogs by observing them in their environment, but during this frog dissection we will look at the anatomy and inner physiology of the frog…up close and personal.
Meet and Greet the Frog Keeper from Clyde Peeling’s Reptileland

It takes a lot to care for the many species of frogs on display as part of the Frogs: a chorus of colors exhibit. Join the individual responsible for the care and feeding of the frogs on display and get answers to all of your amphibious questions.
“The Frog Prince”
SATURDAY ONLY at 12:30 p.m.
Puppets-to-Go will give a puppet show version of the classic fairy tale “The Frog Prince.” After the show, the puppeteers will give kids a behind-the-scenes look at how the puppets work and what it takes to put on a great puppet show.
Live Frog Feeding
SATURDAY ONLY at 11:00 a.m.
There are a variety of foods that different species of frogs eat, and even more interesting is how they eat it. Stop by the Frogs exhibit and watch them chow down during this unique experience.
Ballet Brika West African Dance Theater
SATURDAY/SUNDAY ONLY at 1:30 p.m. & 2:30 p.m.
See the traditional Kuku dance, directed by Percussionist Moussa Soumah, performed by troupe members. The dance is based on a traditional fishing dance of the West African Sou Sou people of Guinea.

Meet Michael Brennan, President of the Sawgrass Herpetological Society. Learn all about frogs and amphibians from an organization that is renowned in the local herpetological community. If you like what you hear at the Museum, the Sawgrass Herpetological Society meets at Fern Forest on the first Wednesday of every month. The meetings are free to attend.
Exotic Pets – Showcase Exotic Amphibians SATURDAY/SUNDAY ONLY from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Join our friends at Exotic Pets, a local pet store dealing in rare mammals, reptiles and of course, frogs as they showcase some of the oddities of the amphibian world. They will also be explaining proper care and maintenance of frog terrariums and enclosures.

Meet local engineering expers and test your teamwork skills working together as a family to construct some awesome creations and have some fun! Moonlight,Sea Turtles and You
The whole family can participate in an evening of discovery while uncovering the natural history and myths of turtles. Your adventure begins at 9 p.m. in the Museum with an informative hands-on session about turtles (land, fresh water and salt water) with an expanded focus on sea turtles. You’ll get answers to questions about nesting, threats, conservation, and you’ll even find out if sea turtle tears are a result of sadness. The adventure continues on the beach where your expert guides will lead you to the nesting grounds. Watching a 400-pound Loggerhead sea turtle venture out of the ocean to lay her eggs is a natural wonder that your family will never forget.
Be prepared to walk one to two miles. You will need to provide your own transportation and snacks. Turtle Walks run from 9 p.m. to approximately 1 a.m. The Cost is $15 for members and $17 for non-members. Advance reservations are required. Please call 954.713.0930.

Backyard Bubble Bash

Summer is in full swing in the Museum’s backyard in June! Take part in a classic summer tradition and blow bubbles with your buddies in the Museum’s backyard during the Backyard Bubble Bash. During this fun-filled summer event you and your family will learn about the physics behind making bubbles as you listen to upbeat music while enjoying a beautiful summer day. Your children will have a great time learning about bubbles by participating in several bubble making experiment stations located throughout the yard. Dress to get wet!
Batty Bats of Florida

Have you ever wondered how bats fly or why they only seem to come out at night? Get bat-tised with a bat expert, Bill Kern, Jr., Professor of Entomology and Nematology, with Ph.D.s in Entomology and Zoology from the University of Florida. He is currently the Vice President of The Florida Bat Conservancy (http://www.floridabats.org/). Check the book, “Bats of Florida” written by Cynthia & George Marks, available for sale in the Museum’s Explore Store. This is the first book published on the topic of bats in Florida.
