Through their individual and collective energy and talent, the staff and volunteers of the Museum of Discovery and Science provide pathways to learning and enjoyment to visitors of all ages.

The Museum offers a dynamic and enriching environment to work in and to volunteer. Opportunities vary, and the following brief descriptions provide insight into available positions. POSITION TITLE: STEM Teacher – Part Time

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree, teaching and previous customer service experience. Good communication skills and the ability to speak before large audiences. Attention to safety techniques and effectively able to control crowds. Have the ability to work under pressure in constantly changing conditions. Have the ability to stand for long periods of time. Must be available to work holidays, weekends and evenings, and be able to lift 50 pounds.

SUMMARY: Teach STEM classes to high achieving high school students. Teach school programs to all grade levels  including Family Science Nights, outreaches, labs, demonstrations, presentations and theater shows.

Position: Database/Records & Administrative Coordinator - Full Time

Summary: Maintain donor records. Provide support for fundraising campaigns and events.  Provide administrative support for CEO/President and VP of Development.

Qualifications: College degree. Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Raiser’s Edge/database software preferred. Strong communication skills, initiative, tact, attention to detail and discretion are very important traits. Must be able to work in an office environment and to sustain posture in a seated position for sustained periods; must be able to drive car to attend meetings or to fulfill other work-related duties.

Visitor Services Supervisor - Part Time


Various day/evening Supervisor of front line operations including box office, Information Desk and IMAX Theater. Responsible for supervising box office cashiers and ensuring cash handling procedures are properly followed. Supervise the IMAX ushers to ensure that theater is operating at its optimum and on schedule. Supervise Information Desk Concierge staff. Handle administrative tasks as assigned. Coordinate facility maintenance to ensure compliance with regulations and policies on safety, security, fire prevention, OSHA and ADA as necessary. Responsible for ensuring that the Museum's daily opening and closing procedures are followed.

One year of college and two years of work experience or equivalent combination. Education and work experience must be from a related field. Prior box office, museum operations or movie theater management experience preferred but willing to train the right candidate. Must be a skilled customer service professional and possess good written and verbal communication skills and a responsible and mature attitude. Must be computer literate and have the ability to quickly learn POS system. Conflict resolution and trouble shooting skills are a must. Ability to anticipate and respond quickly to rapidly changing conditions is necessary. Availability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends. Employee must obtain first aid certification within 90 days of hire and keep it current. Must be able to climb stairs in the IMAX Theater repeatedly throughout the day and able to stand for long periods of time.

Cashier - Part Time

QUALIFICATIONS: Previous customer service and sales experience.  Good communications skills.  Ability to be friendly, helpful and kind.  Must be able to work under pressure and constantly changing conditions.  Ability to stand for long periods of time.  Must be available to work holidays, weekends and evenings.

SUMMARY: Greet visitors and provide excellent customer service to Museum visitors at all times. Be knowledgeable and up-to-date on all films, exhibits and events and all fee-based programs. As a cashier process Museum visitor transactions including selling IMAX tickets, advanced tickets, exhibit tickets and gift certificates using the VISTA ticketing system. Follow all Museum cash handling procedures. Proactively sell memberships and combination admission tickets.

IMAX Usher - Part Time

QUALIFICATIONS: Previous customer service experience.  Mature attitude.  Good communication skills, able to speak before large groups of visitors.  Attention to safety techniques, effectively able to control crowds of people.  The ability to work under pressure and constantly changing conditions.  Ability to stand for long periods of time and to operate 3D glasses cleaning equipment.

SUMMARY:  Deliver the best IMAX experience to visitors. Perform assigned job duties at the highest level of efficiency to ensure that theater is operating at its optimum. Provide excellent customer service with a friendly, professional attitude. Maintain a working knowledge of the Museum of Discovery and Science and the AutoNation IMAX Theater including current films, programs and exhibits.

EDUCATOR 1 – Part Time (2 positions available)

Previous customer service and teaching experience.  Good communication skills and the ability to speak before large audiences.  Attention to safety techniques, effectively able to control crowds.  The ability to work under pressure and constantly changing conditions.  Ability to stand for long periods of time.  Must be available to work holidays, weekends and evenings.  Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Teach/conduct school, public and youth programs including camps, camp-ins and birthday parties.  Will also be responsible for delivering theater shows.  Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance and a car to deliver outreach programs to schools and various locations.  Must learn how to handle animals by taking and passing all levels of the animal handling training program.
