In 2017 the Museum of Discovery and Science is pleased to announce two types of Summer Camps for different age groups.

  • 2017 Ocean Explorers Camp for Incoming Grades 7 - 8

  1. Choose and Print the Registration form for the camp you will like your child to attend.

  2. Print ALL three "Additional Forms" for your child.

  3. A set of forms is required for each child attending camp.

Fizz, Bang, Boom!
July 24-28

Explosions, bubbling potions, and chemical reactions! This week is perfect for the little chemist in your family! All week long we’ll be learning how to change the chemical properties of matter using everything from the simple to the awe-inspiring!

Junior Scientist
July 31-August 4

Walk in the shoes of a different scientist each day! Discover fantastic forces as a physicist, develop engaging inventions as an engineer, plan a conservation project as a biologist, code a video game as a programmer, and jump into geodes as a geologist.

ChemArtistry
August 7-11

Take your creations to a new level by investigating the science behind making art. Create kinetic sculptures; use polarized light to create paintings; animate art digitally; make dazzling designs with spirographs; explore color chemistry with tie-dye and learn the secrets of making cool pop-up cards.

Toys and Games
August 14-18

Design your own games, both plugged and unplugged, using old-school board game logic and high-tech computer programming. Use your decoding skills to help your team solve your way out of the Museum’s escape room!


 


 

 
 

Camp Discovery for ages 6-12
Camp Discovery is designed to give children entire days filled with exploration and hands-on learning. Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (before and after care is available). Camp fee includes all workshop materials and chaperoned exhibit exploration. Children should bring two snacks, lunch and a drink. The Subway Café is available as a lunch option.  Call 954.713.0930 to register.

All camps include an exciting IMAX® Film Adventure.

Note: Multiple Day Camps must be purchased for complete camp duration even if child unable to the full session.

ONE-DAY CAMPS
$55 per child
$50 for MODS Member child

FIVE-DAY CAMPS
$200 for museum members
$225 for non-members

Ocean Explorers Camp – Five-Day Camp
Incoming 7th and 8th Graders
Offered June 19- 23, 2017 or
August 7 – 11, 2017

Campers will spend two days at the Museum and three days at FAU’s SeaTech in Dania Beach exploring coastal marine and coral reef ecosystems.

  • They will conduct estuary and barrier island field work and tour FAU’s ocean engineering and electronics labs, submarine, and flow tunnel.
  • Plus, learn about sea turtles, marine science careers, and design, build, and race a solar-powered boat.
  • Please download and complete OCEAN EXPLORER'S Registration form and Additional Registration forms listed at above right. Please email them to sales@mods.net or contact our Reservations Department for fax options.
